Sweetest Birthday

#stampinup   My BFF, Lynn Birus, makes such beautiful cards. I always look forward to my birthday because I know I'll have a special card just for me! This one is a prototype for a card we'll be making at Lynn's stamp camp this weekend. I can't wait!

Lynn stamped the round citrus piece from the "Apple of My Eye" stamp set in Daffodil Delight onto Whisper White and punched it with the 2" Circle Punch. She added the seeds in Basic Black. Next, Lynn stamped the leaves in Old Olive onto a Whisper White mat and added some grungy elements in Pear Pizzazz and Basic Black from the "Gorgeous Grunge" stamp set. She stamped the sentiment from the "Apple of My Eye" set in Basic Black. Lynn adhered the lemon to the panel with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Next, Lynn sponged some Daffodil Delight Ink onto a striped piece of Color Me Irresistible Specialty Designer Series Paper and layered that behind the stamped image. She added a length of Pear Pizzazz 1/4" Cotton Ribbon to a Daffodil Delight panel before adhering the main image to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. Finally, she added the whole assembly to a Whisper White Thick Card Stock card base.

This card is super cute and I just love it! Thanks, Lynn!

Soaring Mojo

#stampinup   #saleabration2016   I had so much fun playing in the Mojo Monday sketch challenge yesterday, that I wanted to play again today! Yesterday, I made a bright and cheery card with bold colors. Today I'm going the opposite way and using neutrals--and the card is still cheery!

I started with three 1" strips of the Going Places 6"x6" Designer Series Paper Stack and flagged the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. I adhered them to a Very Vanilla card base, as in the sketch.

Next, I cut a 3"x4" Very Vanilla panel and stamped the sentiment from the "Sky Is the Limit" set in Basic Black Archival Ink and the larger clouds from the same set in Tip Top Taupe. Some of the clouds are stamped full strength; some are stamped off once.

I stamped the airplane from the same set in Basic Black Archival Ink onto a Very Vanilla scrap and then fussy cut it. I adhered the airplane to the Very Vanilla panel with Stampin' Dimensionals and I adhered the panel to a slight larger Basic Black mat with Snail Adhesive. I adhered this whole assembly to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I really like the way this card turned out and I love the clean, crisp sentiment.

Mojo Birthday

#stampinup   A couple of my favorite stampers (Hi Justin Krieger and Mary Fish!) posted cards using a totally awesome layout. Being the cracking analyst that I am, I figured they must be playing along in a sketch challenge--and they were! I headed right on over to this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge so I could play along, too!

I wanted to create a bright and cheery birthday card--so what better colors to use than those in the Cherry on Top 6"x6" Designer Series Paper Stack? I cut three 1.5" strips of DSP and flagged the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. I adhered these strips to a Bermuda Bay card base, as in the sketch.

Next, I stamped two solid balloons from the "Celebrate Today" stamp set in Watermelon Wonder onto Whisper White Card Stock and added the happy birthday sentiment in Bermuda Bay on top of the balloons. I cut these out with the matching Balloons Framelits.

I cut a 2.5" by 4-3/8" Whisper White panel and backed it with a 2-5/8" by 4-5/8" Crushed Curry mat, I wrapped a length of Pool Party Glitter Ribbon around the assembly and adhered it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I added the balloons to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals, too.

For a final bit of bling, I added two medium-sized Basic Rhinestone Embellishments to each balloon.  And there you have it: one bright and cheery birthday card!

Welcome Baby Gift Card Holder

#stampinup   #saleabration2016   A new baby is a great reason to celebration. A sweet couple from my church is expecting their first child in March. I wanted to make a holder for the gift card I purchased, so I searched Pinterest for some ideas. We all do that, right?! I saw a gift card holder with a belly band and decided that's what I'd make!

The couple is having a boy and I found that the Sale-a-Bration Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper has a nice, striped Island Indigo, Old Olive and other boyish colors sheet. I started with a 6"x6" piece of the DSP and, using my Envelope Punch board, made a 3"x4" envelope--a perfect fit for the gift card!

Next, I cut a 1-1/2"x9-1/2" strip of Island Indigo Card Stock and used my Simply Scored Board to score it at 2" and 6-3/8". I secured the ends together with a couple of strips of Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Then, I stamped three circles from the "Layered Letters Alphabet" set in Pear Pizzazz onto a Whisper White scrap. I stamped the word "baby" in Lost Lagoon atop these circles. I cut this out with one of the ovals from the Ovals Collection Framelits.

I folded a Tea Lace Paper Doily to form an oval. Here's a pic of how I did it--I wasn't sure it would work, but it was perfect!! (I punched the hole in the middle of the doily for another project that I'd abandoned earlier. You don't need to punch the center hole.)

I adhered the doily to the belly band with Snail Adhesive and the oval to the doily with Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I threaded a Vintage Faceted Designer Button with Whisper White Baker's Twine and tied a knot. I adhered the button to the label with Glue Dots. Here's the completed project, closed and opened.

The gift card really does fit in sideways. I just propped it up so you can see that it's a gift card. Ha!
