Rejoicing Dove

#stampinup   I've said it before, but it bears repeating here: I hate to color. I'm just not satisfied with the results. But, I keep trying and sometimes I'm almost happy. Almost.

The "Dove of Peace" stamp in the Holiday Mini catalog just calls out to be colored. So I listened and tried my hand at some coloring. I was inspired by Brian King's Blue Dove of Peace. I just loved these colors together!

I thought this would be a good image to use with this week's Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge

CCMC383

I started with a Lost Lagoon card base, added a Soft Sky mat that I embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder, and then added a square of Mint Macaron. I stamped a sentiment from "Versatile Christmas" in Lost Lagoon onto this square. Then I tied on a length of the White Glitter Ribbon.

I stamped my dove in Lost Lagoon onto Thick Whisper White Card Stock. I colored him with Marina Mist, Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon, Wild Wasabi, and Soft Sky Stampin' Write Markers. Then I fussy cut him.

I adhered the dove to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. If you don't look too closely, I think my coloring is okay satisfactory pretty good.

Fab and Bright

#stampinup   I was glad to see a sketch that I could use as a design for Christmas cards on this week's Fab Friday challenge blog. I'm deep into Christmas card making mode!!

As soon as I saw the Fab Friday sketch, I grabbed my "Lots of Joy" stamp set and got to work! I started by stamping two plaid trees in Old Olive onto Whisper White. I punched these out with the Tree Punch. Next I stamped one of the sentiments in Real Red onto a Whisper White scrap and punched it out with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch.

I added a Merry Moments Designer Series Paper panel as the backdrop to the design to a Real Red mat.  I tied a length of Real Red 1/4" Cotton Ribbon around the panel before adhering it to an Old Olive card base.

I punched three Daffodil Delight stars with the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered them to the card with Glue Dots. Finally, I arranged all my elements and adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Bright Spirits

#stampinup   This week's challenge at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog is supes clean and simple and it was easy to pull together this card--including adding a bit of bling.

I started with a Real Red card base and added a Whisper White panel that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Embossing folder. Next, I stamped the Christmas stamp from the "Among the Branches" set in Real Red onto a Whisper White scrap and punched it out with the 2" Circle Punch. I adhered this to a Silver Metallic Foil Doily.

I cut a 4.5" x 1" strip of Merry Moments Designer Series Paper and flagged the end with the Banner Triple Punch. I adhered the DSP strip to the card with Fast Fuse Adhesive because I think it sticks better to an embossed surface. I also used Fast Fuse to adhere the sentiment.

I finished the card with a little bling by adding some silver sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment.

Pear Trees

#stampinup   I really love the combination of Pear Pizzazz and Lost Lagoon. I'm surprised I don't use it more often. I'm glad I re-discovered the Global Design Project challenge blog, because this week's challenge also helped me to re-discover the Pear Pizzazz/Lost Lagoon combo!

The challenge this week is to CASE Brian King's card. Usually, "CASE" means to "copy and steal share everything," but for this challenge, it means, "copy and selectively edit." That means we could take inspiration from anything on the card--the layout, the colors, the theme (winter).  I chose to use the layout.

I started with a Whisper White panel onto which I stamped a sentiment from the "Wondrous Wreath" set in Lost Lagoon. Then I embossed the panel with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.

Next, I stamped two trees from the "Festival of Trees" set in Pear Pizzazz onto Whisper White scraps. I added Lost Lagoon ornaments. So pretty! I punched out the trees with the aptly named Tree Punch.

I wrapped a length of White Glitter Ribbon around the Whisper White panel before adhering it to a Lost Lagoon mat, and then onto a Pear Pizzazz card base.

I adhered the trees to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. For the finishing touch, I added a Pacific Point Star Sequin to the top of each tree using the fabulous Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

This card was so quick and easy and CUTE that I made several and added them to my Christmas card stack. Some of my lucky friends will be receiving this cards for Christmas!!
